Knesset and Supreme Court

We went into the Knesset of Israel. unicameral parliament. Its 120 members are elected to 4-year terms through party-list proportional representation, as mandated by the 1958 Basic Law: The Knesset. As the legislative branch of the Israeli government, the Knesset enacts laws, supervises government activities, and is empowered to elect or remove the President of the State or State Comptroller from office. The Supreme Court is at the head of the court system in the State of Israel. It is the highest judicial instance. The Supreme Court sits in Jerusalem. The area of its jurisdiction is the entire State. A ruling of the Supreme Court is binding upon every court, other than the Supreme Court itself. This is the principle of binding precedent in Israel. Calatrava Bridge entrance to Jerusalem

The Chords Brudge design by Architect Santiago Calatra is a cantilever spar cable-stayed bridge that marks the entrance to Jerusalem. The Bridge will be used by pedestrians and a light rail that Jerusalem is currently working on. The bridge has a glass-sided pedestrian crossing spanning the busy intersection of Herzl Boulevard and Jaffa Road.

The Bridge has been criticized by many as a costly solution. I think that this bridge will bring a lot more tourism to Jerusalem and it also creates a nicer entrance to the city.

About Me

My photo
So, this blog began as a way to place my pictures for my Photography class this summer and later a place where i can share some of my pictures with friends and family while in the Holy Land. Coinsidently, the Jerusalem abroad class wanted us to start adding our pictures to a blog so that we can share it with our school and have something else to show while we are gone. Another way to express where we've been and what we have done. I thought that is was a great idea, given the fact that i had already started the blog. :) Israel-The Holy Land! We have seen many places, met wonderful people, and have had the change to live in Jerusalem for one month in the land where once 2000 years ago Jesus was and lived. I am a student at the Catholic University of America. Currently working on my Master's of Architecture. I am originally from El Salvador and have lived in Washington, DC since 1989.
